Anne Rogers
At her studio at Griffin Mill in Stroud, Anne Rogers
designs and creates a range of fine felted garments and accessories from finest
merino wool. Her work explores the versatility of felt as a medium through
colour and texture, blending different shades of wool fleece with wisps of silk,
linen and wool threads and yarns to create a fine felted fabric with a rich
depth of colour. She combines merino wool with the finest woven fabrics, making
use of the unique felting and shrinkage property of wool to create exquisite new
textiles with exciting textures.
Anne started her working life by qualifying as a
Chartered Accountant and working in the City. She took a career break whilst
her family were growing up before changing direction to rekindle her love of
textiles, gaining a City and Guilds diploma in feltmaking at Gloscat in
Cheltenham. She has been a member of the International Feltmakers’ Association
since 2001, working with skilled felt artists from all over the world and
continuing to extend her professional practice. Recently she has studied
pattern cutting at Bristol and at the V & A and combines this with her
felting to create beautiful tailored seamless garments. Anne is also a member
of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, exhibiting her work at their base in
Painswick.
Anne’s
current collection includes jackets and delicate tops, scarves and a range of hats,
seamless felt gloves and pleated cuffs as well as bags, corsages, pin cushions
and needle cases.
